1. Introduction
InfoZambia is a business directory and community platform designed to support businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals in Zambia. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we use it, who may receive it, how long we keep it and the rights available to you.
This policy provides information about our processing. Where we rely on your consent, we will ask for it separately and you may withdraw it at any time.
2. Who we are
InfoZambia is operated by Jacana IT Solutions Ltd, which acts as the data controller for most personal data processed through the Platform.
- Email: privacy@infozambia.com
- Website: https://infozambia.com
InfoZambia operates primarily in Zambia and uses service providers that may process information in other countries.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Account and membership information
We may collect your name, email address, telephone or WhatsApp number, membership level, profile information, authentication records, preferences and communications with us.
3.2 Business listing information
We collect information submitted by businesses and their representatives, including business names, descriptions, sectors, locations, contact details, logos, images, services, registration information and other business facts.
Information about a company is generally business information rather than personal data. It may, however, be personal data where it identifies a sole trader, an individual business owner, a named contact or another natural person. We apply this policy to that personal data.
3.3 Public and official sources
We may check, correct or supplement business listings using official and publicly accessible sources, including PACRA, ZRA and other official registers. This may include corporate registration status, corporate TPIN status, tax types, operational status, source and verification date. We do not treat this as evidence of tax compliance unless the relevant authority expressly confirms that position.
3.4 Community, event and form information
We may collect posts, messages, event registrations, attendance information, responses to forms, contact requests and choices about sponsor or partner follow-up.
3.5 Automatically collected information
We may collect IP address, device and browser information, pages visited, interactions, security logs, cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for more information.
3.6 Payments
If you purchase a membership, service or event ticket, we process order, invoice, payment status and related contact information. Payment providers process payment credentials under their own terms. InfoZambia does not store full card or mobile-money credentials.

Our legal bases may include consent, performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations and our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving InfoZambia. We consider the nature of the data and the impact on the individual before relying on legitimate interests.
5. Sponsored communications, partners and events
InfoZambia may send clearly identified sponsored communications to members who have not opted out of the relevant communications. Campaign selection stays within InfoZambia. We may provide a sponsor with aggregated campaign reporting, but we do not provide the underlying member list or identifiable campaign activity unless the member has separately requested contact or otherwise consented to disclosure.
Where a person submits a sponsor-specific form, registers for a jointly delivered event or asks to be contacted, we will identify the sponsor, the information to be shared, the purpose and the relevant controller roles before the information is disclosed. Optional sponsor follow-up will use a separate, unticked choice.
If a sponsor is added after people have registered for an event, the new sponsor will not receive existing registrants’ details unless those people are given a fresh, named choice and agree. The sponsor may instead communicate through an InfoZambia-managed message or a new sponsor-specific form.
InfoZambia does not sell personal data. Sponsorship may include campaign services, non-personal business intelligence, aggregated reporting and leads that people have expressly asked us to share; it does not provide general access to the member database.
6. Sharing information

7. International processing
Some service providers may store or process data outside Zambia. Before using such services, InfoZambia considers the information involved, the destination, the recipient’s security and the contractual or other safeguards available. Further information about material providers and processing locations may be requested from privacy@infozambia.com.
8. Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected and for applicable legal, accounting, security and dispute requirements. Retention periods are determined by the type and sensitivity of the information, the service relationship, legal obligations, risk of harm and whether the purpose can be achieved in another way.
Account and membership records are normally kept while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Invoice and transaction records may be kept for longer where required for accounting or legal purposes. Campaign consent, disclosure and suppression records may be retained to demonstrate and respect your choices. When information is no longer required, it is deleted, anonymised or securely restricted.
9. Security and incidents
We use proportionate technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, authentication, secure connections, backups and restricted administrative access. No system is completely secure.
We investigate suspected personal-data incidents and notify affected people and regulators where required. Processors and partners must escalate relevant incidents to InfoZambia promptly.
10. Marketing choices
You can opt out of non-essential InfoZambia marketing or sponsored communications at any time using the unsubscribe method provided or by contacting privacy@infozambia.com. Opting out does not stop essential service, security, invoice or account communications.
Where you consent to disclosure to a sponsor, you may withdraw that consent for future disclosures through InfoZambia. After disclosure, the sponsor’s own privacy notice and opt-out process also apply.
11. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or receive information about disclosures and international processing. You may object at any time to the use of your personal data for direct marketing.
Requests may be sent to privacy@infozambia.com. We may need to verify your identity and may retain limited information where necessary to meet legal obligations or respect a suppression request. You may also raise a complaint with the relevant Zambian data-protection authority or seek another remedy available under law.
12. Cookies
InfoZambia uses essential cookies for login, security and operation. Analytics and other non-essential cookies are handled as described in the Cookie Policy and, where required, are used only after an affirmative choice.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in law, technology or our services. We will publish the revised date and give additional notice where a change materially affects your rights or choices. A general policy update does not create consent for a new sponsor disclosure.
14. Contact
Questions, rights requests and privacy complaints may be sent to privacy@infozambia.com.
