Farmfeed Ltd was started in September 1998 by Peter & Jenny de Wet. At first the company offered the consultant services of Peter to a small number of farmers and feed manufacturers.
Over the years the premises of Farmfeed Ltd moved from the de Wet’s home, to an office in Makishi Road, to Livestock Services, and then to Sesheke Road off Malambo Road where the company is currently based. Each move represented growth in the company & the addition of new products and services. In 2008 Farmfeed Ltd opened a soya processing plant in Mkushi, Central Province. Currently Farmfeed Ltd is building on its own property in Mukwa Rd, Lusaka.
Farmfeed Ltd’s initial staff complement comprised Peter and a messenger (who still works at Farmfeed Ltd). This team has increased over the years to the point where Farmfeed Ltd now employs 130 people between its Lusaka and Mkushi operations. Mention must be made of one particular addition to the team. Eckhard Kern joined Farmfeed Ltd as an employee in December 2008. Two years later he became a shareholder & director of Farmfeed Ltd, along with Peter & Jenny.
Farmfeed Ltd has grown, faced numerous challenges, and seen many changes since its small beginning, but retains its original underlying principal of desiring to serve the Zambian agricultural industry with integrity.
