THE BEGINNING OF COPTIC HOSPITAL IN ZAMBIA
Coptic Orthodox Church built many churches in & outside Lusaka. In 1995 the Mission continued responding to the needs of the surrounding community and built Coptic Church Clinic.
The hospital started in 1995 as a small outpatient clinic which served several compounds in Lusaka such as Garden, Chaisa, and Luangwa Compound. The current average population served is about 127,166. The hospital has developed different departments such as Outpatients Services which cover most of the known specialties such as Infectious Diseases Clinic, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Obs. & Gyn., Urology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Dermatology, and Dental under the Private Section & Coptic Hope Center for Infectious Disease which serves ART, PMTCT, TB/HIV services under the Public Section.
The Hospital has Inpatient department with 20 beds capacity, theatre department with three operating rooms and maternity wing. The Hospital also has equipped diagnostic center with laboratory and radiology equipment.
Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ) started supporting the ART Clinic (Hope Centre) in 2006. In 2008 another ART Satellite Clinic was opened in Kanyama at St Mary Orthodox Church which serves the community of Kanyama Compound as an outpatient in ART, PMTCT and TB/HIV.
