Fabrics, pottery, carvings and kitschy souvenirs abound: North mead is Lusaka's smallest market place. Although there is less choice, you are more likely to barter a better price here than in the bigger markets. A local platter of Nshima, vegetables and meats is priced cheaper here as well.
Owing to its small size, North mead hosts traditional vibrant atmosphere in a friendly environment moreso than other markets. Its intricate, maze-like design (narrow corridors and intersecting paths under concrete canopies) has a distinctly rustic charm that is worth the trip alone.
